If only this very instaworthy veggie kueh lapis from AEIOU cafe taste as good as it looks. I’m okay with my greens but somehow this combi just doesn’t sit well on my taste buds. It’s a tad too raw and cold for my liking. And at $23 a pop, I would rather pay for a good salad than veggies pressed together with tomato jelly.

That said, I love the avocado coffee and the place looks super interesting decked with vintage furniture (it’s a part cafe, part restaurant, part lifestyle store) and cute illustrations. Fingers crossed the other items on their menu would not disappoint when I’m back!

In a good way, that is.

It was love at first bite when I had a taste of their Morello Cherry pie. Damnnn the sour cherries go so well with the sugared shortcrust.

There are a couple of new flavours since my last visit, and the Passionfruit Pineapple one caught my eye – looks like a slice of yellow watermelon right? The one next to it is their classic ‘Grasshopper’, mint + chocolate.

Scrawny boy like me loves a good breakfast high in protein.

Still one of my favourite cafes despite having many others that sprouted nearby. I think Loysel’s Toy is one of the pioneers (or should I say, hipsters) that started the whole cafe hopping trend in Singapore years ago. Super chilled location with river breezes, great food (THEIR FAMOUS LEMON TART!) and great coffee.
